If you are a teacher looking for support to teach for sustainability or new activities to engage in, you have found the right place! Welcome!
Below we provide more details on the types of support we offer and the activities that we arrange – for individuals as well as groups – divided into four different categories:
-> Collaboration & Consultation
-> Visibility & Career Opportunities
We have a lot of different offers and hope you find what you are looking for! You are also welcome to contact us to ask for custom activities and support at: education@sustainability.lu.se
If you are looking for information and inspiration:
Read our blog! On our blog “Teaching for Sustainability”, we share reports from our events, examples of how teachers have implemented sustainability in their teaching, summaries of interesting literature, links to external resources that we find useful, and much more. Browse it (and consider if you would like to contribute with a guest post!): Teaching for Sustainability-blog
Join our MS Teams! We run a MS Teams-channel that everybody is welcome to join called “Community of Practice” (you need an LU-account though). On Teams, we share invitations to events, information about all things related to education and sustainability, and you can contribute with resources or questions. Link to MS Teams: Community of Practice | opens in MS Teams
Sign up to our newsletter! We send out a monthly compilation email of what is new on our Teams and blog, and inform about upcoming events and opportunities (however, we don’t necessarily know everything in advance, so we invite you to join our MS Teams – linked above – to make sure you are always informed).
Book a presentation! We have several different presentations ready that we can come and give for you and your colleagues, or you can ask us about input on other topics. Available presentations include:
- Introduction to Teaching for Sustainability: we talk about what Teaching for Sustainability as an approach to teaching entails, why we think teaching for sustainability is a good idea, and how to engage with the Teaching for Sustainability-initiative at Lund University.
- Key Sustainability Competencies: we talk about competencies in general, introduce key sustainability competencies, and discuss how they fit with other competencies that we teach.
- LU-policies: we introduce the most relevant policies and guidelines at Lund University related to Teaching for Sustainability and put these in context with Swedish and international legislation and recommendations.
Join our workshops or courses! We advertise workshops and courses on our blog and on our Teams-channel but feel welcome to contact us if you are interested in a specific topic to receive updates regarding upcoming opportunities. Examples of our courses and workshops include: 2-week course “Teaching for Sustainability” at the Centre for Engineering Education: Blogpost about the course | Teaching for Sustainability-blog. More information on workshops below. Information about relevant courses (not just ours) can be found on Staff Pages: Sustainable development in education | Staff Pages
Join our MOOC [coming]! We are currently working on a MOOC to be launched in 2026 – stay tuned for updates.
If you would like to start a new conversation:
Book us for a chat! We are always happy to bounce ideas with you!
Book a workshop! If you are looking for something interactive, we have run different workshops in the past and are happy to come and work with you and your colleagues on concrete cases and activities. Examples of workshops include:
- Teaching for Sustainability: We discuss how you can teach about, with, in, through, and for sustainability and what this might mean in your context. We could, for instance, support you working with specific activities with your students, the course literature, or your classroom environment.
- Transformation: What is the role of the university in transforming our society for a sustainable world? In this workshop, we let ourselves be visionary and imagine the university in a sustainable world. The following link showcases a previous event, for inspiration: Summary and slides of the workshop | Teaching for Sustainability-blog
- Key Sustainability Competencies: In this workshop, we like to tailor the key sustainability competencies to your context and discuss if there are things you can do to tweak what you are already doing to either integrate more education for sustainability, or make the link to sustainability clearer.
Join our Transformation Thursdays! On the first Thursday of each month (with some exceptions e.g. summer break, public holidays), we host Transformation Thursday: An informal lunch somewhere on campus – come as you are and discuss what is on your mind with the Teaching for Sustainability-community! Check our MS Teams-channel or newsletter for information about the next opportunity and location.
Join our book club! In our demand-driven book club, we organise opportunities to discuss a book or other texts with colleagues. During Autumn 2025, we will have so far booked a discussion around poetry for sustainability on September 10, and have several books lined up that we would love to dig into. Do you have a book lying on your desk that you would like to read and discuss with colleagues? Contact us on education@sustainability.lu.se to discuss! Read about our slow-reading book club in Spring 2025 here: Reflections about our Teaching for Sustainability book club | Teaching for Sustainability-blog
